Mistaking Audrey Hepburn by Katharine Hepburn and not really knowing who they are but some familiar names in the movie industry, I bought this book from Book Sale for 20 pesos. But I have bookmarked some inspirational quotes from this obstinate, unattractive woman who made herself into stardom inspite of herself and her mediocre talent (as perceived by the media she loathes and who loathes her back).
‘I’m not somebody who just sat around on a throne, but when it comes to a new script I never really listen to anybody else. As my mother always said, “If you always do what interests you, then at least one person is pleased.” ‘
… Olly Olly Oxen Free (1979) had a script that could have been inscribed on the backs of envelopes by ten-year olds, and possibly was. It was so bad that they couldn’t even release it for three years, and when they did nobody went to see it even at drive ins: so why had she bothered to make it? ‘Because they let me play most of it up in a balloon which finally landed in the Hollywood Bowl, and how often do you get to do that at seventy?’
