Can Perla Really Whiten and Smoothen Skin?

I am writing this piece in response to a popular demand in my inbox. Their question is: Can Perla whiten and smoothen skin?

Pimple Buster

In my teens and with a horrible acne attack. My neighbors recommended Perla. They said it not only removes the massive explosion of zits on my face, it can also whiten my skin.

My acne reduced and were gone with continued use. In the first few days, the soap stings a bit on the skin. The stinging sensation is especially felt on the pores where the itchy pimples are. To me, it feels goo. It feels so satisfyingly and vengefully pleasant against my itchy pimply face.

Stubborn Stains Out

Perla has natural ingredients. One of which is coconut. But it also has something on it that is really fierce on clothes stain. Whatever that something is, is indeed vicious. My practical logic says: If Perla can whiten clothes then it can also whiten the skin. And it does. Am I kidding? No! Well, partly.

Natural Exfoliant

Dead skin cells if not scrubbed will accumulate in the outer skin leaving it dull and dark. Perla is an exfoliant by itself. Notice that the application of Perla on the skin even without a loofah leaves it squeaky clean and clear.

Filipina Skin is World Class

Forget about meddling with mother nature. Some soaps promise whiter skin by suppressing production of melatonin. Melatonin is an important skin pigmentation. Filipina’s skin is really beautifully brown and it is also functional. I am living in a western country with the white race and I know the difference. They also have a higher incidence of skin cancer.

Can Perla Really Whiten Skin

What I am trying to point out is this. Perla does not really whiten skin like your skin whitener does – supress melatonin pigmentation. Perla makes your skin clearer because it sloughs off dead skin cells. Your dead skin cells if not exfoliated will add up to skin darkening. We call it libag. We have a choice – to have whiter skin yet uneven or clearer yet darker skin that protects us from the harsh ultraviolet rays.

Dry Skin from Perla

There is a little bit of a problem with Perla. While it leaves the hands smooth after mechanically doing the laundry, it also leaves the rest of the face and body dry. But don’t fret.

How to Combat Dry Skin

I am not really sure if you will be with me on this. I am an advocate of an all-natural beauty regimen. For decades, I have not been using lotions that are chemically treated. I use virgin coconut oil as my moisturiser. I prefer cold-pressed VCO. I buy VCO from the grocery or from the pharmacy back in the Philippines. Here, outside the country, it is available in the baking and oil section. They use it as food. One bottle can go a long way. A few drops of the oil is equivalent to a plentiful of squirts and squeezes of your commercial lotion.

Virgin Coconut Oil

Virgin coconut oil will soften the dry skin left by the squeaky clean effect of Perla. Some say this oil can also whiten the skin. I can only vouch for the fact that my skin is clearer and finer. You may not like virgin coconut oil because it smells – like copra. You may want to subdue the smell with a dab of light perfume or essential oil.

Before Going to Sleep

I also recommend a nice warm shower with Perla before going to sleep. After the shower, towel yourself a bit. Otherwise, leave your skin wet. Apply and massage virgin coconut oil on your face and body. The oil absorbs quickly on the damp skin. Apply a bit of light perfume  or essential oil if you do not want to smell coconut-y. You can also ditch the perfume as the smell simply just goes away. You will notice healthier and smoother skin in the morning.

You can do this regimen both in the morning and at night. The morning application however can be a bit tricky because the Philippines is hot and humid. A quick morning shower with a bit of soap or no soap will leave your skin smelling fresh and smooth after the night’s regimen.

Coconut and Coconut on Skin

Perla has coconut ingredients and so does virgin coconut oil, of course. Perla nicely exfoliates your skin squeaky clean. Virgin coconut oil naturally moisturises your skin without any chemicals touching your body. Your skin is now clearer, smoother and well moisturised. People will notice your skin looks finer and brighter and therefore – whiter.

This is what Perla users mean when they say Perla can whiten the skin.
